Who are we looking for?

We seek an Electrical Designer or Drafter to join our Electrical and Software Department. This position will report to our Electrical/Software Manager and will work under the supervision of our Electrical Design Lead. You will play a pivotal role in developing and supporting our glovebox solutions. You will collaborate with a talented team of engineers and technicians in North America and Europe.

What will you do?

This position requires an individual to have diverse electrical design skills with the ability to work independently to perform all aspects of electrical design of industrial controls systems, including initial concepts, specifications, design engineering, documentation, project implementation, testing, and start up support.

You will work on a project team responsible for designing electrical controls systems.

You will need to understand the project scope and financials and exercise good time management skills to plan & coordinate the work as part of a project team by developing project schedules and budgets in collaboration with project leadership and, identifying change orders, and justifying changes to Project Management, ensuring completion of all project deliverables to the satisfaction of the client.

You need to anticipate and provide solutions to project leadership and customers, prioritize customer satisfaction, and offer solid technical expertise and advice as part of the project team.

What are your qualifications?

  • Hands-on experience designing small to medium-sized automation systems
  • Helps having at least 3-5 years in the industry
  • Experience with electrical diagram CAD software and can easily read electrical diagrams
  • Detail-oriented with strong technical aptitude
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, and codes relevant to Instrumentation and Controls: UL508A, NEC. Bonus points if you hold a valid UL508A certification
  • Demonstrated ability to design industrial control systems, utilizing CAD systems
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation specification, installation & troubleshooting, and control panel design, check-out, commissioning & troubleshooting
  • Hands-on experience rapidly troubleshooting and solving equipment & instrument-related issues during start-up and commissioning and performing complex system testing

Application-specific knowledge in:

  • ecsCAD or AutoCAD Electrical
  • Electrical bill of materials creation
  • Component specification, qualification, and quotation
  • SCCR calculations
  • Heat load calculations
  • Energy audits, power savings, power optimization, and backup power solutions for industrial environments
  • Personnel and equipment safety

You work reliably, structured, and independently, can work in a team and communicate, and are willing to travel on business (estimated to be less than 5%)

You have sound spoken and written English knowledge—bonus points if you are proficient in German.

Physical and Mental Requirements

Physical Requirement: Climbing; bending; stooping; some light to moderate lifting and carrying; must have fine motor skills; be able to grasp small items; kneeling; ability to do a repetitive motion; and the ability to stand and walk for most of the day

Visual Requirement: Must be able to read wiring diagrams visually and assemble electrical components

Hearing Requirement: Must be able to identify hazardous sounds and be aware of the environment on the production floor for personal safety

Mental Requirement: Comprehension, Reasoning, and Communication
